The Chester Yacht Club's annual yacht race, known as Chester Race Week, has a rich history dating back well over 150 years. Its roots are firmly planted in the mid-19th century when fishermen raced each other to markets in Halifax or New England. The first documented regatta was in 1856, and it has since evolved into a major summer sport in Chester, Nova Scotia.

Chester Race Week is a significant event, attracting participants and spectators from various locations. The racing schedule typically spans several days, featuring a range of courses and classes, including one-design, PHRF-NS inshore, NS distance racing, classics, and Bluenose classes. The event also includes on-land activities, such as competitors' meetings, food and beverage services, and the availability of race week merchandise.

The Chester Yacht Club's executive committee and race week committee play pivotal roles in organizing and overseeing the event, ensuring its success and smooth operation. The event's historical significance, coupled with its continued popularity and participation, underscores its importance within the sailing community and the region as a whole.

PAPER & DESCRIPTION

  • Print and cards are of my original handmade marker sketches.
  • For my original work I use Copic, and Winsor and Newton alcohol-based ink markers.
  • Prints are signed by the artist.

PACKAGING
Prints: All prints are packaged with love, sealed in an eco-friendly, compostable cello sleeve made of plant fibers with thick backing cardboard and mailed in a non-bend envelope to ensure the print remains in perfect condition.
Greeting Cards: All cards are blank inside and a kraft envelope is included. All greeting cards are packed in a clear cellophane bag. 

ECO EFFORTS

  • It's very important to us to keep being as eco-friendly as possible.
  • PLA compostable sleeves and recycled postcards.
  • We welcome and encourage any suggestions you might have.
